Robin Hood Country is there in the Forests and Woods and the Walks by the River and in the Villages and County Towns, the Derbyshire Dales and Castles, you just have to look beyond the 16th-21st Century!

Ideas for this Bank Holiday Weekend:

The other big Country Parks in Nottingham and Notts and neighbouring counties are cool for a visit (and there are three days this weekend to fill) its possible to visit and be home for late evening and start again the next day!

There are Museums and Steam Railways, and Vintage Tramways and and all kinds of places to see and visit. Stately homes and grounds and Castles and Reservoirs. Valleys and Dales and Cycle Trails – all this lovely East Midlands is a region that if you are prepared to explore; is absolutely stunningly beautiful with Parkland, Super Countryside (particularly the Peak District it has super Valleys and Dales) and awesome Rivers. Even the roads are good! It’s interesting and doesn’t have to cost more than travel and parking and a picnic. Some places of course have an entrance fee and website links with info are on the blog pages.

There’s the River Trent at the Embankment in the City and out on the road towards Southwell you can turn towards the river and find lots of places for a walk on the riverside with lunch or restaurant stops and even river trips. Check the pages.

Across the Trent is the National Watersports Activity Centre and Country Park.

There are smaller parks, University Boating Lake, Bramcote Park, Shipley Park and other ones near all the County Towns. has a villages page with a pubs list and info.

Some events are happening check the outdoor screening and theatre.

Drive safely, hop back or start off from Wollaton Park maybe.

The Reservoirs are Rutland Water, Carsington Reservoir and Ladybower Reservoir in Derbyshire. Theres swimming and a beach at Rutland!

Dont forget the County Towns are cool too, some will have Markets for the Bank Holiday eg Bakewell in Derbys (early to miss the traffic!

Wollaton Park of course is there if you have to work to keep other folks happy (thanks all the Bank Holiday workers, especially if it means you miss family days out – next weekend or days together in the week?

The Cafe sell lovely coffees and snacks and theres the Industrial Museum. There are lots pubs and Restaurants around Wollaton and Beeston town.
