Design and ethos…

WollyPark is an area on the outskirts of Nottingham in the UK, it’s suburban and walking distance to fields, canals, rivers, and countryside and Nottingham City although cars cycles and public transport are quicker and easier.  This blog is about the area and the local Wollaton Park, and other parks in Nottinghamshire and other kinds of green nature stuff, gardens and wildlife, with a few techi android phone bits of info added.

As an area to live, Wollaton Park is typical of suburban areas all around UK Cities but it’s cool as it’s easy to travel to other parts of the East and West Midlands and in a central position in the UK so it’s easy to travel around this lovely island of ours and a good homebase…or tourist place on the way to anywhere else (cept perhaps the Silly Isles or the Channel islands, but we do have an airport nearby!)

The aim of the blog was to make a kind of home-made style not too sophisticated so that others can find it in themselves to blog about their favourite places, not to be better than or to provide inspirational writing (maybe i’ll post all the poems i write one day or make a new blog for those) maybe with a few quotes, but essentially to provide lots of ongoing info in a magazine style about the local park and area and anything else interesting mostly in a rural kind of way – I have been walking the park for the last fifty years or more and its wonderful as greenspace is essential to my own and other peoples wellbeing.  I love the changing skies and the seasons, love the gardens and the cafe and just picnicing or stopping off for a few moments on the way home from somewhere – anywhere – and even just on the way home from the shops!!

The theme and layout of the blog has been explored in the process of evolving it from a basic blog with only a few pages, to this more comprehensive (mega number) of pages but the original theme still feels best i.e. not too modern or plastic or unconnected with greenspaces, alternatives have been tried- and each theme tried may look more contemporary or modern, but just doesn’t seem to capture the essence of greenspace – modern is for contemorary things, and part of the beauty of the place is that the local park is steeped in history.

Also the most important aspect is that 95% of the blog (truly 95%) has been made on an android smartphone.

Summer 2012
There’s now a Wollaton_nottm twitter running in conjunction with the blog, and lots of other bloglinks on the sidebar about all sorts of “nice people” anorak-y things and one on Business Studies Alevel revision planning and learning, plus a twitter on Economics and Business Studies and Uni info.

Info …applied to this blog and associated blogs (suite) by the same author linked on the sidebar.

Copyright
As its expensive to invoke any copyright, you may copy stuff as you wish however a tweet or an email to ask would be cool.
Some links and screenpics have been added with permission so it’s best to go to the originating site and request permission for your use if you are interested in them. Apparently text links are ok.

Thank you so much for following my blog. I loved reading about snowdrops and hedgehogs because I have lived in England, well London actually, all my life and am currently in Australia. You will know that because you read my blog! Anyway, I had almost forgotten the delights of English Spring. All my friends keep telling me that it is pouring with rain and very cold. So your news was a delicious reminder of the promise of Spring.

Hi, the weather is windy winter at the moment with a hint of blustery spring, but it could snow yet. Today where i live theres a lovely gold sunrise and it seems quiet after some unusual hectic 70mph winds. Happy New Year

We are currently traveling in Nw Zealand, as you will know because you are following closely I’m sure! The weather here is very curious. Althought changeable, on a sunny day it is ferocious in the sun but suddenly cool when in the shade. This must be because of the lack of ozone! Sadly, it hit me worst when sailing on the tall ship at Russell because my lips became sun burnt and are now very sore! Thanks for keeping us up to date on England.
